“For the last one year I have been working at a Covid-19 lab in New Jersey and had ensured a safe environment at home,” said Dr Deepti, who specialises in microbiology. “It is ironic that we came to India for two weeks and he contracted it here.” She said Dr Kapila had got both doses of the Pfizer vaccine in the US.

It was not known if Dr. Rajendra Kapila was vaccinated prior to visiting India.

The newspaper quoted Dr Saxena-Kapila as saying they had both been fully vaccinated with two Pfizer-BioNTech shots, though this was not immediately confirmed by Kapila’s university.

　感染症の権威であるインド系教授がインドで貢献しようと、アメリカからインドに渡ったが、コロナに感染して、死亡。年齢が８１歳、糖尿病あり、ということで、コロナに対して脆弱であったということはあるが、同僚によると、ファイザー製のワクチンをうっていた、と。

うっているかどうかは、まだ、確認されていない、という記事もある。

　ワクチンも完璧でないので射っていたとしても死亡することはありえるわけだが、なんとなく暗いニュースだねえ。インド変異種にはそれほど効果的ではない、ということもありえるしねえ。
