Doctor responds to, debunks advice on "How to Fight COVID at home" social media post
by Liz GonzalezWednesday, December 30th 2020
It starts with the alleged advice from a nurse, who the author says told her to: “Sleep on your stomach at all times with COVID Do not lay on your back no matter what because it smashes your lungs and that will allow fluid to set in.”
Mason responds: “This is completely false. What we call proning, which means laying on your stomach, is a technique that we use only for people who already have a dangerously low oxygen level who are on oxygen support in the hospital. And yes, it does help. But if you're feeling okay for the most part, just some mild shortness of breath, your oxygen levels are normal -- this is silly advice, and really there's no place for it whatsoever.”
危険なほど低酸素レベルの場合に有効であるが、それ以外の場合は関係ない、と。
