Murder of Sarah Everard

From Wikipedia,

Metropolitan Police officer Wayne Couzens falsely arrested her under the pretence of having breached COVID-19 regulations and drove her to near Dover where he raped and strangled her, before burning her body and disposing of her remains in a nearby pond.

Something stinks about the culture of contemporary British policing

It is a ludicrous thing to suggest, impractical and ineffective, and insulting with it. Late at night it is likely that there will be no response from a householder, no bus handily passing by the potential killer, and no one to hear you, the victim, scream

The incidence of successful rape convictions is so low as to invite the charge of institutional misogyny.

It is a mystery as to why Couzens did such a reckless thing, given what he had so meticulously planned, but perhaps he had a shrewd idea that his colleagues wouldn’t take it seriously. He was right. The same goes for sexual molestation and indecent exposure on public transport. The culprit is being filmed, yet nothing seems to happen.
