https://t.co/3Ju2TWR4rhhttps://t.co/Hmlhf7wBIS

Daily Wire
That the violence BLM’s mayhem leaves in its wake leads to horrendous spikes in murder is not new. According to research conducted by Travis Campbell, at the University of Massachusetts, and reported earlier this year by Vox, there were between 1,000 and 6,000 extra murders between 2014 and 2019 in areas of the country where BLM had protested. That is called “the Ferguson effect.”
leave (something) in (one's)/its wake
To create or produce a lingering effect (usually a negative one) as a result of one's or something's actions or behavior.
The tornado left a trail of destruction in its wake.
In a 2016 article, Samuel Sinyangwe outlines three assumptions that function as the premise of the Ferguson effect: a decrease in police officer aggression, an increase in violent crime, and an increase in crime due reduction in proactive policing. However, Sinyangwe then references an 8% increase in the number of people police officers have killed since the 2014 killing in Ferguson, Missouri as well as the Marshall Project and the Justice Department statistics that indicate no significant difference in crime rates. This information directly contradicts all three premises that the Ferguson effect is based on because the third premise relies on the others in its assumptions
