一昔前まで先進国人は「ムリのある政治体制は続かない。自滅する。ほらソ連を見ろ」みたいに思うふしがあったけれども、イスラム体制なんてあれだけ無理があるのにまったく滅びる気配もない。だから中国もRTのような無茶苦茶をやったまま生き延びるのかもと最近は思うようになりました

北朝鮮のような地獄でも長続きしているもんなああ。

地獄は人間がいる限り消滅しないのかもね。

偶然、自由で民主的な日本に生まれてよかった。

 

【市民ケーン】あらすじと観た感想。つまらないと思って当然

おれもそう思うんだなあ。なんでこんなに評価されるのかわからない。

名作かもしれないけど、当時の革新的技術が後にみんなに採用されるようになって「今となっては」という感じ。

The American dream is hollow for Kane. As an adult, Kane uses his money and power not to build his own happiness but to either buy love or make others as miserable as he is. Kane's wealth isolates him from others throughout the years, and his life ends in loneliness at Xanadu. He dies surrounded only by his possessions, poor substitutions for true companions.

This theme is central to Gatsby’s understanding of the world and the judgments Nick makes about the future at the end of the novel. It is a set of ideas that suggest that anyone who works hard can find success in the United States. Gatsby rose from poverty up to the level of a multi-millionaire. But, when it came to what he really wanted in life, he failed. He spent his whole life thinking that if he just made enough money, he’d be able to convince Daisy to love him, and he’d have everything he wanted. But, he couldn’t retrieve his relationship with Daisy, and his pursuit of it led to his death. 

　グレート・ギャツビーなんかでもあるわけだけど、これは、テーマとしてはわからなくもない。わからなくないんだけど、ただ、そのテーマとしての評価の比重がアメリカでは重いんだろうなあ、と思う。外部の人からはわかりにくいような・・・忠臣蔵のテーマも普遍的ではあるんだけど、なんで日本人がそんなに好きなのか、外部の人には理解しにくいところがあるのと似たような何かがあるんじゃないか、と思うんだなああ。

　アメリカ文化の中心であるアメリカン・ドリームが実は虚しいものなんだ、というテーマはアメリカの繁栄がある程度続く限り、繰り返されるアメリカにとっては重いテーマなのかもしれないね。
