Russia Willing To Let Ukraine Join EU If It Stays Out Of NATO, Report Says

Russia-Ukraine Peace Talks: Russia Willing To Let Ukraine Join EU If It Stays Out Of NATO, Report Says

Joe Walsh, Forbes Staff - 6h ago

Russian and Ukrainian negotiators are discussing a possible deal that would require Ukraine to be militarily neutral—barring it from joining NATO or hosting foreign bases—but let the country seek security guarantees from other countries and pursue EU membership, according to the Financial Times, which cited four unnamed sources.

The Kremlin said earlier this month it’s open to neutrality for Ukraine along the lines of Austria or Sweden, neither of which are NATO members. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also appears to be open to neutral status.

Zelensky said Sunday he’s seeking a “compromise” on the status of separatist-held areas in eastern Ukraine, and he doesn’t intend to capture back all Russian-held territory by force.

Zelensky says Ukraine prepared to discuss neutrality in peace talks

And what will Ukraine's borders actually be? President Zelensky says Russian troops must retreat to positions held before Moscow's full-scale invasion began on 24 February.

He says Ukraine will not try and retake the Donbas or Crimea by force, but Ukrainian officials are not yet ready simply to give up on territories that have been under Russian control (direct or indirect) since 2014.

ここらへんだね。ロシアに占領されたままだと火種は残る。領土は譲歩しないが、自治区として認めるか、あるいは地域の住民投票を条件に独立を認めるか?・・・・
