kazukazu88 Retweeted Abortion in France From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to navigationJump to search

Abortion in France is legal on demand during the first 14 weeks from conception.[1][2] Abortions at later stages of pregnancy are allowed if two physicians certify that the abortion will be done to prevent grave permanent injury to the physical or mental health of the pregnant woman; a risk to the life of the pregnant woman; or that the child will suffer from a particularly severe illness recognized as incurable.[3][4][5] The abortion law was liberalized by the Veil Law in 1975.

Abortion in the United Kingdom From Wikipedia,
Great Britain The main law on abortion in England, Scotland and Wales is the Abortion Act 1967, as amended by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 1990. In Great Britain, abortion is generally allowed for socio-economic reasons during the first twenty-four weeks of the pregnancy (higher than any country in the EU, apart from the Netherlands), and beyond for medical reasons

Killing innocent human life is seriously wrong.
A fetus is innocent human life.
Á Killing a fetus is seriously wrong

(p173 Ethics contemporary introduction Harry Gensler)

he asks us to imagine a man who is sufficiently retarded as to have no sense of self but who is quite capable of enjoying his life lt makes perfect sense to say he can benefit from efforts to provide a happy life for him.

(p191 Moral relativity David B Wong)

. I have argued that you are not morally required to spend nine months in bed, sustaining the life o f that violinist;

(Defence of abortion Judith Thomson in Applied Ethics by Peter Singer)

When something less than the mother's life is at stake, the conservative may assert that the cost to the mother, in terms of liberty, setbacks in career plans, and so on, is not sufficient to override the fetus 'loss of all potential for a rich life (p196 moral relativity)

We acquire special responsibilities toward people, not only by consenting to contracts or relationships with them but also by having various types of unions with them. So, we have special responsibilities to those people with whom we are closely united. For example, we have special responsibilities to our parents, and brothers and sisters, even though we did not choose them. The physical unity or continuity of children to their parents is unique.

(p23 Contemporary Debates in Applied Ethics)

Some critics say we can have as good consequences without killing; we need better social support for unwed mothers and poor families, better adoption practices, wiser use of contraceptives, artificial wombs, and so on. Children with disabilities grow up to be just as happy as others; disabilities can bring families together and give them a sense of purpose. In addition, abortions and infanticides can harm women psychologically and promote callous attitudes toward human life.

(The A to Z of Ethics Abortion

CONSERVATIVE JUSTICE SAMUEL ALITO, IN THE MAJORITY OPINION:

"It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people's elected representatives."

"We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision."

"Abortion presents a profound moral question. The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives."

"The Constitution does not take sides on the issue of abortion. The text of the Constitution does not refer to or encompass abortion."

ロー対ウェイド事件 トリビア that's no skin off my ass.

The A to Z of Ethics

"If a young woman wants to have an abortion, that's no skin off my ass. That's why they call it choice," she added.

birthing people

What Is ‘Birthing People’ Controversy In USA

But Why replace “Mother” by “Birthing People”?

The term ‘birthing people’ is from the realm of trans-rights activism, and is a step towards making vocabularies less rigid in terms of gender.

Those who advocate the use of ‘birthing people’ say it is not just women who give birth.

Examples: Transmen, Genderqueer people etc – who identify as neither man nor women – also give birth.

Another argument for the use of ‘birthing people’ is that a surrogate can give birth, who is not the ‘mother’ of the child.
